At Church of Spirits, “Church In Session™” is more than a phrase—it’s a living declaration.  It means that sacred fellowship, prayer, reflection, and worship are actively happening right now.  Whether gathered in our harbor venue for daily conversations and shared meals, on a quiet retreat at Crab Island, or in a moment of personal devotion in a vehicle, the spirit is in motion.  Faith does not wait for a formal building, a set time, or external permission.  It flows continuously, inclusively, and without interruption. 

This simple statement reminds everyone—members, visitors, and passersby—that spiritual connection is always underway in our community.  It honors the non-denominational, judgment-free space we hold for exploring faith, recovery, personal growth, and the deeper questions of life. 

It also serves as gentle notice: religious fellowship and worship are protected under U.S. law, including the First Amendment, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA, 42 U.S.C. § 2000bb et seq.), the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA), the Church Arson Prevention Act (18 U.S.C. § 247), Conspiracy Against Rights (18 U.S.C. § 241), and the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (18 U.S.C. § 248 – FACE Act), which collectively safeguard the right to religious exercise at places of worship—traditional or non-traditional. In Florida, this is further reinforced by the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act (F.S. § 761.01 et seq.).
